Messy play is sensory play, enabling children to work with their hands, fingers, feet, in fact their whole body, to create a controlled mess. This often involves the use of traditional ingredients such as sand, slime, water, jelly, flour and mud to use for the exploration of sensory feelings and imagination. The idea is to provide children with a variety of materials to explore textures and sensations, delving into a world of play and make believe.
